At a recent #PowerPlatformIreland meetup a couple of people suggested I have look at PowerDocu which is a free open-source tool for createing Power Platform documentation. It was written by Rene Modery so massive kudos to him for developing such a great tool for the community. To generate the documentation you select an exported solution from PowerDocu and start the documentation generation process.
You can download PowerDoc from GitHub and learn how to use it. I found some of the features really useful especially if you have taken over an existing project and are trying to figure out how it works.
Power Automate
PowerDocu creates a folder with documentation on each flow in your solution. It generates images of your flow and extracts the logic your flows action. You no longer need to click in and out of your flow actions to try and figure out what it does
Full documentation is generated for each canvas app in your solution and I especially liked the screen navigation image that is generated.
Security Roles
Being able to export your security roles and privileges in Word or Markup is a cool feature as many organizations require this information be documented.
Conclusion
PowerDocu is a great tool and I really should have clocked onto it sooner. I would definitely recommend you give it a go.
