Web Sites added to Azure

16th June 2012 by Joe Gill Leave a Comment

If case you missed the news Microsoft have added Web Sites to the Azure platform and as you can see from below it’s dead easy way to create simple web sites with the option on creation to use an application template if you want CMS, Blogging, etc
This must be going to make life difficult for the good people at Blacknight and their like as Azure Web Sites are free on a shared hosted basis.

To create an Azure Web Site you first need to add Web Sites to your subscription and once enabled just select the create option entering you web site and the region where you want it deployed

Once created you can click on the web site to view the web site dashboard and decide how you want to deploy files to the site and configure connection settings.

When you creating a web site you also get the option to select from a variety of applications for blogging, CMS, etc

I believe that the addition of Web Sites to the Azure solutions will make it a very attraction option for the SME sector and put some pressure on smaller web design companies and hosting companies.
